What to see in Alcudia & surroundings

Beaches, routes, nature, heritage

6 articles

Alcúdia is probably the municipality with the most varied landscapes in northern Mallorca. Within a 30-minute drive you go from a Roman-medieval historic centre to almost-virgin coves, protected wetlands, cliff-top viewpoints, dunes and Mediterranean pine forests. This category orders the whole offer for residents and second-home owners: where to go, in which season, how to get there and what to avoid.

We start with heritage: the medieval walls and Pollentia, the Roman site and the theatre, alongside the old town and its churches. Then comes the protected nature: s'Albufera Natural Park (wetland and bird sanctuary) and the much-less-visited s'Albufereta, reachable by bike from most of the municipality.

For beaches, we distinguish the big ones (Playa de Muro, Platja d'Alcúdia) from the small and local ones: Sant Joan, Sant Pere, Es Coll Baix (the best wild cove in the area, via hiking or boat), and the rocky cove of Alcanada with its lighthouse islet. We also cover the coastal trails of the La Victoria peninsula, the sunsets at Cap des Pinar and the heritage of Pollença.

Every article includes season-specific recommendations —Es Coll Baix in August is not the same as in April— and tips to avoid mass tourism in high season.
